Grape variety / Nerello Mascalese 100%
Alcohol content / 13% vol.
Vineyards / soils composed of volcanic sands, rich in minerals, located at an altitude of around 600 m a.s.l., with good temperature variations between day and night. The training system is partly sapling and partly espalier.
Harvest / manual in crates, in the second-third week of October.
Fermentation / for about 10-15 days at a controlled temperature (24-26 ° C).
Ageing / mainly in steel, 50% of the wine ages for 5-6 months in barrique and another 3-4 months in large barrels; the refinement is completed by a further maturation of at least 6 months in the bottle.
Tasting Notes
Colour / ruby red tends to take on garnet reflections
with ageing.
Nose / concentrated and elegant with notes of ripe red fruit,
currant, cherries in alcohol and sweet spices.
Palate / warm, soft, round, harmonious and persistent.
Serving temperature / 16-18° C
